Service are provided by licensed and experienced speech language pathologists in private speech therapy rooms to support the needs of our patients.
Respiratory Therapy
The RT will do an initial pulmonary evaluation on any client presenting to the CORF who has a pre-existing condition such as COPD or who is recuperating from pneumonia. The RT will listen to the breath sounds and do a pulse oximetry check to establish a baseline to compare with any future assessments should the need arise. If a client has an exacerbation of a pulmonary condition during therapy, the RT will intervene with whatever treatments are required such as oxygen and/or bronchodilator therapy. Once the client is stabilized, it will be determined, in conjunction with the medical director, if the client can continue therapy or should seek further treatment from their PCP.
Social Worker
Social work in the CORF setting consists primarily of an initial psychosocial evaluation to determine any coping deficits that might preclude/prevent a successful treatment regimen. Such deficits might be dysfunctional interpersonal or family dynamics, any unmet needs such as transportation or ambulation issues, financial problems, falling at home, or an inability to do self cares that would require linkage with community resources. If any problems arise during the course of the treatment regimen, the social worker will be available to intervene to see if the problem can be resolved.
Medical Director
One of the advantages of being treated in a CORF is the accessibility to a physician. Our center is overseen by a Medical Director who is responsible for the review of our clients treatment plans, care plan assessments, and utilization review.
The medical director plays a large part of keeping the therapists up to date on implementing new therapy procedures as well as education. Communication between our therapists and our Medical Director is a key influence to our success. A medical director also assists in working directly with the primary physicians of our patients which can develop a better comprehensive care plan for the patients.
